CG Detroit is the exclusive provider of vehicle wraps, signage and graphics for Two Men And A Truck. Their original ordering system was by way of printing and faxing a physical form that the franchisee would have to fill out by hand.
This method lasted for several years, but the time came that a change needed to happen in order to keep up with competitors and increase business. CG Detroit not only had a need for a modern e-commerce website that could handle online ordering but one that would be user-friendly for all types of users and accommodate the growing number of people who shop online through mobile devices.
To get this project started, I sat down with the marketing and sales teams from CG Detroit to review and discuss what their needs and expectations were for the new online ordering system. We broke down the current trends for sales and set goals to not only improve on those numbers exponentially but also improve customer satisfaction with the ordering process. Since this was a brand new online ordering system that had not existed previously for our current customers, we were very optimistic our expectations would be exceeded.
I was tasked with providing an intuitive, responsive and secure digital e-commerce website that would expedite the ordering process for both the franchisees and CG Detroit. This new website would also give the franchisees the full catalog of pre-defined wrap options, customizable graphics options and the ability to preview the vehicle wraps prior to placing their order.
We chose Prestashop to be our front end solution for the storefront and the front end was coded using Bootstrap 3. I provided various designs that ranged from extremely basic to very edgy and modern. As a result of focus group user testing, we settled on a simple, basic and clean layout to the design that gave the franchisees everything they needed in a digital solution. This new e-commerce site would include a fresh design that makes it look and function equally well on any device, including smartphones, tablets and desktops.
We began this project in the spring of 2015 and officially launched the new e-commerce website in January 2016. As a result of this new online ordering system, CG Detroit immediately saw an increase in sales in the first 3 months, and a significant ROI in sales after just one year. These results helped propel us to pursue additional e-commerce solutions for companies such as Belfor, Domino’s, Audi Assist and The Cleaning Authority.
